Happy Birthday Chuck Norris, Osama Bin Laden...and MATT!!
We've had a couple of busy days here this week in Madrid. Mostly classes, but we filled in with fun stuff whenever we could.
On Tuesday after class we bought Jack Johnson tickets for this weekend and then headed over to Retiro to meet Sara and do some homework. I was way too cold and in a weird mood, so we wound up staying only a short time.
Matt got bored waiting for Sara, so he rode the lion.
Wednesday we enjoyed ourselves out on the green at UC3M and met this random German guy named Nicholas who is apparently making a movie and needs extras. We'll see how that goes...he seemed to be a pretty interesting guy though. Speaks three or four languages, his English was very good. He just needed to work on intonation a bit because we couldn't really understand if he was kidding about certain things. He also eats boxes of cholocate donuts everyday. They are his favorite here in Spain, but he never eats them at home.
After class we were going to meet up with Sara again and go shopping, but she decided to go elsewhere. Matt and I were walking around Sol again and heard from Alex that there was a football game on and we should meet him at the bar to watch it. We got a quick bite of dinner and headed over to meet Alex. We went to a little Irish pub in Sol and ordered some beers. Yvonne came to join us and one of her friends from elementry school who had coincidently been studying at the same time as she in Madrid also came. After the game Yvonne went home for a late dinner with her Senora and Alex, Matt and myself wandered the streets around Sol looking for a good time. We wound up getting home at about 2AM and went straight to bed.
Matt and Alex got some big winnings from the GNOMOS coin machine at the bar we went to...so much that we got to get on our way home.
(I had to get a picture of this one for you, Jo. My camera died soon after, so it's the only photo of the night)

Yesterday I had class from 10-11 and 1-1400 and then Sara and I went to Sol to buy some presents for Matthew's birthday. I got some good stuff, so hopefully he will be surprised. It's his 21st. Unfortunately that has no significance here, but we can celebrate it like Americans tonight.
I've come to realize that 3 out of 5 of my meals my senora makes for me are deep fried. We have a fry daddy on the counter and she just tosses things in it. It's amazing and horrible at the same time.
Anyway, I must go and get my surprise ready for Matt's birthday...celebration til tomorrow!
